Cheryl:

Yes we do have a transportation board here and there are a couple of
qualified disabled individuals who serve on it so we are represented and
they are doing the best they can do under the political climate.

Unlike New York, Pennsylvania and even Washington D.C. the State of Georgia
doesn't fund Marta however, they do have some say so on how Marta spends its
money. The politicians feel that public transportation is to expensive for
a State Government to afford and it would be better off in the hands of
private Companies. Most of the States elective voters don't live where
public transportation is needed, so there's no reason for them to side with
us.

Also there's this belief down here that having public transportation brings
more crime so usually once an area loses its transportation, it never gets
it back. So as you all can clearly see, we face an up hill battle between
the polotitions and the State elective who's against us anyway.

As you Maurice is the Vice President of the Division, but we need all of you
posted on these issues in your area as well!
Maurce, we have Margo Downey that was appointed by the Governor here at the
Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's board of Commissioners.
What about you trying to get on the transportation board where you live,
each county should have one, I have been trying to get on mine hear for
awhile, and now I have to talk with the new Legislator of my district,
because he wasn't re-elected.
