Most host agencies will take a cut of your commission. Unless you have a large number of family or friends that travel frequently it may be some time before you make enough in commission to be abel to travel on what you make. I strongly suggest looking at several host agencies before you decide on the one you want to go with as they all have their own quirks. Starting with a host agency is a good way to get your feet wet and get the training you need to succeed, it also cuts down on you having to pay for things like E and O insurance, ARC fees, and CLIA enrollment as a agency, which you must have in order to sell cruises.
