Howdy TABSters,
The following message pertains to the upcoming NFBTX Austin Seminar. The NFB
of Texas is heavily involved in legislative affairs that would impact the
way services are delivered for blind Texans in this legislative session. To
that end, we are gearing up to meet with key lawmakers in Austin to talk
about these issues. If you are interested in participating, please let me
know off-list no later than Sunday March. 2, via email.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best,
...Gabe

Subject: [NFBT] Austin Seminar Set
Hello everyone,
The dates for our Austin Seminar have been set. They are March 30-31. The
Holiday Inn Midtown will be our headquarters hotel; however, you should not
contact the hotel to make room reservations. You should make sure your
chapter president knows that you wish to attend, and chapter presidents
should pass a list of members who plan to attend on to me. I would like to
have lists from each chapter and division by March 5. The NFB of Texas will
provide a hotel room and out-of-town travel for up to 30 people who would
like to help us with this effort. We will hold a meeting to discuss how we
will proceed, at 8:00pm, on March 30. Then, we will visit key legislators on
Tuesday, March 31. You will be free to return home that evening. Many of you
will miss a full day of work and school on Tuesday, and most of you are
likely to miss at least a half day on Monday because you will really need to
be present for the meeting that evening.
Finally, let me remind you that this is an event that requires walking. It
is not a grueling as the Washington Seminar, but you will be expected to
visit several offices to discuss our issues. If walking is a problem for
you, this is not a trip that you should make. If you are a wheelchair user,
you are definitely welcome.
More information will follow over the next week or two, so stay tuned.
Best regards,
Norma Crosby, President
