Hello NFB of Texas,

I am writing to you this afternoon in order to discuss a new committee that
I am thinking of developing. I urge chapter presidents to share this
information with members who may not have access to email. Our national
organization has developed a Community Service Division, and I have heard
some interest expressed in organizing such a division in our state.
However, the development of a cohesive division takes time, and I'd like to
begin this process by appointing a committee instead. Doing this will allow
me to find out how much commitment there is to such a division, and it will
provide us with an opportunity to find good leadership for the division if
we decide to form one.

Right now, I am asking that members who have an interest in participating
in this effort contact me so that I can form a committee that includes
capable people, with an interest in community service. If you are one of
those people, please send me a quick email letting me know about your
interest, and telling me how you think you can be of help to the committee.
I have copied Darian Smith, who serves as the president of our national
Community Service Division, so that he will know how we are progressing
with this project. When you respond to me, you may feel free to copy Darian
as well. I am likely to appoint this committee prior to our national
convention, so I'd like to ask that you respond to this request for
volunteers by June 1. I will only appoint a committee if there is
sufficient interest to justify doing so. So, don't wait for your neighbor
to volunteer. If you have an interest, jump right in.

Thanks, and have a wonderful Monday.
