Hello again VABS family,

It's will again!!!

I actually became a life time member to my local chapter back in early spring. (The cost was $100 for the great opportunity to be a member. Usually the annual membership fee Is $5).

My local chapter is the Fredericksburg chapter. 

I am actually really good friends with my chapters president and I have known her for many years! 

I hope each and everyone of you gets involved in your local chapters!!! 

And BTW, if any of you guys are attending the national convention this year in Orlando, and would like to network, please feel free to email me personally

HELLO Guys 

I have another challenge for each of you. This is an important part of being in VABS and I hope that you will take this task seriously. The Virginia Association of Blind Students, also called VABS, is a division of the National Federation of the Blind of Virginia. What this means is that this student division is part of an even bigger family of blind and vision impaired people that support and help one another. In this Virginia affiliate, we have 12 chapters and 4 divisions. Your task is to do the following:

1. Find out which chapter is closest to you or your home and join it. Contact the chapter President and ask to join. When you join, have him or her contact me and inform me of this. 
2. Look at the different divisions we have and tell me which ones yD like to join. Note: There is a Parent's Division, so if you're parents are interested, tell them about it. 

All the information you will need can be found at the state website at www.nfbv.org 

Below are the chapters of this state: 

1. Eastern Shore 
2. Alexandria 
3. Potomac 
4. Fairfax 
5. Fredericksburg 
6. Williamsburg 
7. Blue ridge 
8. Winchester 
9. Chesapeake Bay

12. At Large

Once you have spoken to a chapter President and introduced yourself and told them you intend to join, hit "reply all" to this message and tell us the name of the chapter you joined and when their meetings are. When you have done that, your name will be submitted into a drawing for a cash prize at our state board meeting on August 5, 2017. This gives you a chance to win money on the same day that you get to meet these same chapter Presidents. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
