> Hi all,
>
> I have recently had contact with a woman who is a researcher at Georgetown U. looking for participants in a study, but she needs totally blind folks with no visual memory and normal hearing. They pay for sessions and transportation. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested take a look at the study description below.
>
> I inquired how far away they’re willing to pay for transportation and it sounds like at least 25 miles, maybe more. Any questions, there is an email at the end.

> Sensory Study at Georgetown University
> The Josef P. Rauschecker's Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition at Georgetown University is recruiting those interested in taking part in our studies on the sensory cortical organization and cross-modal plasticity in blind subjects.
> Their study focuses on investigating how individuals with visual impairments utilize sound and touch to perceive their surroundings. They incorporate brain imaging techniques in their research to help them understand how the functions of certain brain areas change as a result of early blindness. The study also investigates whether preserved senses are enhanced when vision is absent. They are hoping to learn more about how people integrate information from multiple senses and how this, in turn, will inform the design of future sensory substitution devices.
> They are recruiting early blind subjects (those who have been blind since birth), with no visual memory or hearing impairments from the D.C. or D.C. metro area. The compensation for participants will be $25/hr for behavioral sessions and $50/hr for the fMRI sessions. In addition, the costs of round-trip transportation will be covered by our lab.
> Participants will be brought to Georgetown University for a series of behavioral tests and optional brain imaging tests. Each session will last approximately 1-2 hours, and will include basic sensory tests, including simple tactile, visual, and hearing tests. Subjects will be asked to participate in fMRI tests while undergoing sensory stimulation.
