What You Need To Know

The Hershey Company has stated that no products made by The Hershey Company,
including Reese's brand products, are affected by the recent recall related
to peanut butter. 

This includes all items sold to other food companies and used as ingredients
in other products.

What You Need To Do

Release from your HOLD inventory any Hershey or Reese's products. They are
no longer considered a potential problem.

Due to the ongoing Salmonella outbreak investigation involving peanut
butter, the FDA is urging consumers to postpone eating commercially-prepared
or manufactured peanut butter-containing products and institutionally-served
peanut butter until further information becomes available about which
products may be affected.

However, several manufacturers / suppliers have been able to confirm that
their products are safe and not involved in the recall. The following
companies have been cleared as of this afternoon 1/19/09:

Kar Nut Products Company is NOT recalling any products in connection with
the recent

salmonella outbreak involving peanut butter manufactured by Peanut
Corporation of America

(PCA). Kar's is not affiliated with PCA in any way; nor does Kar's
manufacture or sell any

products containing peanut butter or peanut butter paste.

Kar's highest priority is the safety of our consumers, and we're actively
monitoring developments

around the current recall of peanut butter. We are providing this
information as suggested by the

U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Recently, there has been news of a salmonella outbreak in peanut butter sold
in the foodservice distribution system.

We want to assure all of our valued customers that Boyer Candy Company is in
no way involved with this outbreak or recall.

Our peanut supplier is Hampton Farms.  They have issued a formal statement
along with a certificate of analysis that verifies that their peanut
products are NOT a part of this recall.  These statements are attached to
this letter.

For over 70 years, Boyer Candy products have been manufactured with care and
pride.  All raw ingredients and packaging received must undergo the
strictest of compliance and standards testing that are set forth by our
Quality Control Department.

stringent quality assurance program, and we do not outsource any peanut
ingredient manufacturing to other custom peanut product manufactures i.e.

The peanut butter we use in the peanut butter wafer bars and buddy bars sold
under the Mrs. Freshley's, Mrs. Freshley's SnackAway, Blue Bird, Bishop's,
and Royal brands comes from a U.S. supplier that is not involved in the
current peanut butter recall nor associated with the peanut processing
company named in the recall. 

Our peanut butter supplier has safeguards in place to ensure high levels of
food safety and follows good manufacturing practices. We have contacted our
supplier about this matter and have been assured that our peanut butter
supply is safe.
