Subject: [Jobs] Possible Opportunity in Monroe Louisiana
Hello List:
Monroe Louisiana will soon have a new airport. Since this airport was built with federal funds, I hope we can find blind vendors. I have appended the information as excerpted from The News Star. Hope this is useful.

Airport open for business Local vendors urged to submit proposals for space in new terminal By Stacy Temple stemple at thenewsstar.com August 28, 2010 Comments (0) Recommend Print this page E-mail this article Share Del.icio.us Facebook Digg Reddit Newsvine Twitter FarkIt Type Size A A A
With the proposed grand-opening date of the new Monroe Regional Airport terminal just around the corner, officials are accepting proposals from businesses wishing to locate there.
Manager Cleve Norrell said he will accept proposals for a month or so and has some ideas on what types of businesses he would like to see in the new terminal when it opens in March. A cocktail lounge, shoeshine stand, a restaurant to serve breakfast and lunch and a gift and news outlet are some of the businesses officials hope to have inside the new terminal. Businesses already at the airport also will have to submit proposals to get a spot.
If they want to operate in the new terminal, they have to submit a proposal," Norrell said. There will be no just moving over.
Airport officials are looking for someone to manage and operate a drink and snack vending machine area. Officials also are seeking someone to manage marketing and advertising signs and displays in the new area for the public. A vending area will be in the boarding lounge portion as well.
We are looking for someone to put in a specialty retail shop, and that could be most anything. It could be a dress shop or a sports store selling ULM (University of Louisiana at Monroe) or LSU (Louisiana State University) memorabilia," he said.
Business proposals submitted to the airport must include a business summary, references, a business plan and sales and revenue projections. Applicants also need to submit any proposed facility modifications and advertising strategies.
Officials are encouraging Disadvantaged Business Enterprise businesses to apply. These are small businesses owned and operated by economically disadvantaged citizens.
Norrell said construction on the third building of the more than $35 million new terminal has begun, and they still are shooting for March of next year as the opening date. The last phase of construction is expected to be completed the following year. Once the last phase is completed, the existing terminal is expected to be torn down.
For more information about submitting a business proposal to the airport, call Norrell at 329-2461. .
