[vendtalk] Square register card reader and audio splitter

OK -- I think I will give up on Square for this client, and probably all future clients. I ordered an A2DP Bluetooth headset, got the headset and printer connected to the iPad and the moment I plugged in the Square reader I get a nice message on the screen:
"Register needs VoiceOver to be turned off. In order to use your Square Reader for Chip Cards, Register needs the VoiceOver setting to be deactivated."
I tried a few combinations of connecting the reader and turning VoiceOver on in different orders, and it actually worked once. Not enough to be reliable and way too much trouble.
It would have been nice if SOMEONE at Square could have simply told me that their new Chip Reader is not usable by a blind person.

It looks like there are two options.
1. 3.5mm Mic/headphone splitter
The Square Reader uses the microphone channel for input to the ipad. A microphone headphone splitter will get you going. Plug the Square Reader into the microphone side and headset into the other.

2. Bluetooth
Connect Square Reader first, then connect bluetooth earpiece.
I have not personally tested this to confirm.
