Hi everyone,

I am currently working in watercolor on canvas paintings but during my
career which has spanned 42 years I have worked in a variety of media. In
college I was primarily a sculptor and printmaker. I have illustrated books,
learned stain-glass and taught it too and worked in acrylic as well.

Two years ago I lost the sight in my "good" eye but I can still see color
and if I put my nose to the canvas or paper I can force my double vision to
show me only two images everything and I pick one and try to draw and paint
while trying to exclude noticing the other image. Naturally I can't do it
for long before I get a headache and have to stop. Because I have severe
nausea with motion, I have not been able to use a CCTV, but it is worth it
to me to make art.

This past October, I chaired a round-table discussion of "Art Expression
is a State of Mind" to the Nebraska Chapter of the NFB. I wanted to
encourage creative people who just happen to be blind or visually impaired
to push their creativeness into using alternative methods or different
media. So it is nice to learn that there are other "de-lighted" (a name that
my blind daughter uses to refer to blind persons) artists.

Susan (SEddy)
