Good point Mindy-

My son also has always had BrailleNote or mpower home and school between
traveling as well as kept over the summers. He has a laptop with JAWS and
kurzweil(also kept over the summers) and a desk top at school, scanner at
home and school (also kept over the summers). Franklin talking dictionary
for at home, large print Spanish dictionary, tactile drawing clipboard,
Braille rulers, click rule, tactile geometry stuff like a four square and
angle thingy--oh yeah protractor, Perkins, slates, calculator software (AGC)

Jump drives, a print copy of every textbook and worksheet as well as
Braille, a victor or daisy player at home and his own not shared RFBand D
and bookshare memberships. He could have had a CCTV but never liked it as
functional for him as just eyeglasses magnification for illustrations and
graphs.

A big however, as nice as this has been since we won the war at the end of
eighth grade--he will have to return it all upon graduation this spring and
we leave the entitlement era. So I advise taking from the district and
saving for the day when tech improves and your child is no longer entitled

(yes, rehab often helps, but not always and not all always and it is a new
battle sometimes)

It can be found in the IDEA provisions for making assistive technology
available for home when determined by the team and put in the IEP.

In a situation where the student is not allowed to take a piece of equipment
home, they should have a duplicate available to them at home.

My son uses a ccTV in school, which he charges in a resource room at night.

He also has a ccTV for homework, which is in our den.

The Victor stream reader is a portable device that he uses at home and in
school.

Regarding software, it should be installed on your child's school computer
and their home computer as well.

All to be supplied and paid for by the public school system. My son
wouldn't be able to do his homework without these devices.
