[blindkid] repeating - Kathy

our 9 year old also has peters and uses lots of echolalia. However, she is also autistic. I would recommend testing for autism not only because of your daughter's language issues but the other behaviors you described. We waited until Sydney was older to get the "official" autism diagnosis for a number of reasons. Now, we wonder what kind of difference the specific "autism" intervention would have made when she was younger.

FYI, in our area it has been extremely difficult not only to test for, but also to find someone who will treat Sydney for autism outside the state blind school. The austim community repeatedly tells us that they don't have the appropriate tests or materials to treat Sydney due to the lack of vision.

let me know if you need any resources and I'd be happy to help,

Susan
