 Our son loves to "read" and label (by speech) things which makes it
all the more infuriating that his vision rehab doc said I don't know that
reading is a primary concern for him right now at his appointment on Monday.

Just a thought--remember that the medical person is not necessarily an
expert in education and learning. We don't take advice about car
maintencance from a dentist, even if he is a great dentist and a really
smart guy. If your son is pretending to read, he is getting ready for true
reading, and that shows you are doing the right thing with the labels.
