The touch has to have a camera (the newest one does) in order for the
scanner to work. The bar code scanner is called Digit-Eyes. My son says it
works when he can find the bar code-more problematic when you are blind. It
only finds those items entered in the database so local store brands and
unusual items may not be found. The money identifier is made by vision
hunt. He hasn't tried it yet. He says that the money identifier can also
identify colors and light sources (if a light is turned on in a room). He
says that he doesn't know about an app that will read text. He also has a
GPS app but that only works on the iPhone. We used it on our last road trip
and it was helpful!

There is new stuff all the time so it requires some looking around and
experimenting. My son loves to fool around with technology so he knows way
more about it than me!
