Thank you to all the families that showed up at the technology session at
the NFB convention. WOW, what a turn out. We may need a bigger room next
time--big smile. You can reach me at this email or yourtechvision at gmail.com.

Remember the most important tool for anyone is learning a PC and for a
blind person, add the talking software. As promised, the Everything lessons
for WORD are now free for download until the end of July. You can find them
at this link:

I apologize to the families who asked me questions later on technology. The
pain in my head that refused to leave me over the weekend was severely
hindering my intellectual processes. Now that I have had a good night sleep
in my own bed, I can now respond with more coherence.

If you would like to hook an Apex to an itool, such as ipad, ipod, etc.,
make sure your child is comfortable with the Apex: turning on bluetooth,
going to braille terminal and can braille words and knows how to move
around it. Once this is established, then pair with the itool. For those
who I set up voice over on the ipad, I fear I may have forgotten to tell
you how to turn it off. You hit the home button 3 times to turn it on, and
you hit the home button 3 times to turn it off. Great flexibility this way
for you and your child. All itool lessons can be found at:

The Apex works a bit differently than other displays and when you are ready
here is the link to the special commands, otherwise the videos I have put
out on using the refreshabraille display will work. The videos will also
give you a good idea on how to get going and moving for both these tools.

Here is a link to all the videos that I went over during the tech session
and so much more. I was only able to just touch on areas, so here are
fuller version. http://www.youtube.com/user/yourtechvision?feature=mhee

When you go to yourtechvision.com you will find hundreds of articles giving
you extensive information on just about any subject and then links to take
you to where you want to go for further information. Remember to register,
then login in and add anything you need to cart, then check out. The
lessons will always be on the site, so even if you lose them, you can
always come back and redownload them. A huge advantage for anyone learning
organizational skills. You can also sign up to be notified of new lessons
and articles coming out.

Also, put an "all call" out to blind individuals in your community to add
to your team. I guarantee you there is a tech expert and braille expert in
your neighborhood. They can take over the aspects your TVI does not know
and while they teach your child, the TVI can sit in on lessons and learn
too. Then the TVI can take that knowledge and teach other kids. Everyone
helping each other with their best attributes. We need to think beyond the
box in order to get all our children educated. We cannot have them going
without....as so many are. Let's use the expertise around us.

Thank you everyone once again and don't hesitate to ask questions you need
help with. If I do not know the answer, I most likely know who to direct
you to. It was great meeting all the new faces and a great pleasure seeing
the ones I know. Thank you Bonnie for keeping me on time check!!
