No matter how good the language sounds whenever the U.N. gets involved the
message gets lost in the politics.
When Lybia under Quadafi gets put in charge of the U.N. committee in charge
of human rights and Iraq heads the U.N. council in charge of arms trading
you have to know something is wrong.
Sorry but I have to agree with Doreen we do not need the U.N. telling us
what is suitable education for the disabled.

I strongly disagree, and would urge list members to read through the
onvention protocol before voicing complaint.
In my reading of it, the convention urges governments to recognize the
ights of children with disabilities to an education, and asks them to
nsure that children are not excluded from education on the basis of
isability. It stresses accessibility, accommodations, and individualized
upport. It further encourages teaching of Braille and other skills by
ualified teachers. In no place does it tell me how to educate my child.
A protocol of this type could be a lifesaver for special needs children in
ome countries, where parents could only hope to have the issues we face in
he US. We are very lucky indeed.
Just my opinion.

EF received this tonight and is passing
it along to ask for your help. Please forward it to all your friends.
hanks,
renda
Thursday, 7/26, is a big day, but not in a good way.
ere's why.
n
Thursday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will vote on a treaty that
would put us under international law when it comes to parenting our special
needs children.
es, you read that right.
n the United States of America,
there is actually discussion about adopting the United Nations Convention
on
the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which would give the U.N.
oversight of the healthcare and education choices parents with special
needs
kids make. It is outrageous that the government could tell me and you what
is
best for our children, particularly when they've never met the child.
s
parents of a precious special needs child, Karen and I have already written
to
every U.S. Senator and are making calls as well to stop the ratification of
this treaty.
ut we can't do it alone. Please join Patriot Voices, the Home
School Legal Defense Association and others to help us stop the U.S. Senate
from considering this deeply misguided treaty.
e need you to do four things
to help us stop CRPD:
Please call your senator and ask them to vote NO on
this treaty. Find your senator's contact information here.
Please email
your senator and ask them to vote NO on this treaty. We've made this easier
by
providing sample email copy for you to use.
Please call the White House at
202-456-1111 and ask President Obama to withdraw this treaty from the U.S.
Senate now.
Please Tweet on our behalf: "Help stop ratification of UN
Disabilities Treaty
#CRPD

-90 Contact US Senator today
http://www.flhef.org/component/acymailing/url/urlid-3522/mailid-97/subid-90"
f this were to pass, CRPD would become the law of the land under the U.S.
Constitution's Supremacy Clause, and would trump state laws, and could be
used
as precedent by state and federal judges. This treaty would give the
government, acting under U.N. instructions, the ability to determine for
all
children with disabilities what is best for them. It also would give the
U.N.
discretion over decisions about how we educate our special needs kids, and
could potentially eliminate parental rights for the education of children
with
disabilities.
lease join our fight and tell our Senators that this treaty has
no place in the United States of America.
hank you and God Bless for all that
you're doing to stand with us!
ll my best,
ick Santorum
