[blindkid] Bullying the blind

For a few summers in upper elementary I had a set of twin boys who tormented
me at the public pool, calling names and such. My siblings and I saw them
at the summer theater and they sat behind me and relentlously called me
""blind bat" till I turned around and told them that if I was blind as a
bat, that must mean I see quite well because they do in the dark. (Whether
true or not, they shut up. I had nice days of swimming and my sighted
brother no longer felt compelled to call them "sighted creeps." Kids always
used to stare at us when we'd walk to the movie theater too so my siblings
would turn to them and either say, "take a picture, it lasts longer" or
"stare, stare like a bear. Eyeballs in your underwear." (That's my
personal favorite. LOL!

If your daughter has friends she can trust, maybe she should have them go to
the bathroom with her. Better yet, next time tell her to ask the girl if
she's never seen anyone have her period and offer to show her. It'll
probably gross her out. (*Sigh* but you never know what kind of backlash
that could have either.)

Hahaha!! Go Lauren. Although I won't show my brat how to do that, I also
won't be too upset if she picks it up.
One kid hit my girl in the face for "staring at him". Uh...she's blind.
Then the following week another student told her she can't play a game and
she needed to leave. That she was "an awkward blind girl that can't see
anyway." I was furious. The icing on the cake was yesterday. My girl went
to the bathroom at recess and was followed by one of the tormenters. This
other girl went into the stall next to my girl's, stepped on the toilet,
and was looking over the top into her stall. Mind you my daughter is on her
monthly cycle. She now feels soo violated that someone else saw her. She
even told me she doesn't want to use the bathroom at school anymore. This
has been soo exhausting. I'm doing my best to be calm when talking to her.
I ripped the principal and this students mother a new one already.
