[blindkid] 2nd into 3rd grade IEP

He has started learning Braille this year. He's not doing too well but I'm hoping that gets better. I do think he needs more braille though. That is something I want to discuss on the next IEP meeting.

One of the biggest things your child is going to need is support for braille and proper braille instruction. This is most important for him right now since it will affect how he learns all subjects because reading is so important. He will need ATLEAST 1 hour a day and I think it should be 2 hours a day at least till he learns the code. This doesn't have to involve being pulled out of the classroom all the time. The school and TVI/TBS should be able to find a time that works best for him.  Has he been getting braille before he lost vision during this last batch?  If he hasn't been getting it he  should start now. You don't have to wait for  a new IEP meeting<  request a newe meeting and get it added as a service ASAP. I would also have braille instruction added for him for ESY (extended school year)  I am sure this seems all over whelming.  The more braille he gets the quicker he will learn it. Braille is not hard to learn its fitting this
 additional instruction in that can be tricky.
