Friends,

Pre-register NOW for the NOPBC’s Annual Conference! Preregistration closes
tomorrow, Sunday, July 15!

Our Annual Conference offers opportunities for parents to

· Learn from the award-winning teachers and experts in technology and
cane travel, from blind adults, from blind youth, and from parents who have
“been there.”

· Meet other families with blind/VI children and youth

· Get involved in advocating for educational issues facing our children

· Have your child/youth participate in fun activities, designed for them

This year’s conference highlights:

Seminar Day (Tuesday July 1)

· Entire day of events planned

· Workshops on hot topics such as Technology; Independence in school,
home, and community; Tactile graphics; Getting ready for college; Helping
your blind baby explore the world; Working toward maximum independence and
self-determination for the child with additional disabilities.

· Special activities for blind/visually impaired children and youth
(11-18)

· Socialize with other families

Other days: Attend a Cane Walk session, where you and your child can work
directly with a certified cane travel instructor. Choose free,
age-appropriate books in Braille and have them shipped for free to your
home at our Braille Book Fair. Receive guidance on designing and
implementing a good IEP.

The National Organization of Parents of Blind Children (NOPBC) is a proud
division of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). We know that
blindness is not the characteristic that
defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind
people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and
our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you
back.
