Hi,

My experience is that the parent advocacy group in our state is outstanding with IEPs and the process. Have you tried that? A lot will consult with you over the phone.

I also subscribe to Wrightslaw, regarding Special Education issues and many topics are on line: http://www.wrightslaw.com/

I am sure many will chime in to help you with this. One step at a time, you are correct that what they did was wrong.

Subject: [blindkid] Advocates, Help

We are having an issue with our school system denying us a discussion on
placement, they said this is not a IEP team decision, their decision,
that's it.

I had a very hard time finding help for this transition meeting and mostly
leaned on local parents who are strong and they were helpful in the meeting
but we are still in this predicament.

I have emailed and will call tomorrow the Director of SPED as they can not
leave us out of the placement discussion and just force us into Due
Process, seems like a waste of time and money on their part.

I have emailed our local NFB chapter to no avail.

Does the NFB help at all in these situations, to at least provide
guidance? Any other resources, there is just nothing I can find in our
area for good VI help in dealing with these situations. I'm feeling
overwhelmed of where to even start. I will start by making calls tomorrow
but not sure how much good they will do. :(

Thanks,
