Good evening everyone,
My name is Adhyayan Singh, and I recently graduated from UT Austin. I am
currently studying for the LSAT with the goal of taking it this upcoming
January.
I am writing today as I have a few inquiries regarding available
internships and job opportunities for those taking a gap year before law
school. Having applied to many law firms and nonprofits, many advertised
through UT's pre-law email listing, I have found myself facing endless
rejections. I have seen that a few people have posted job opportunities on
this thread, and was wondering if any of you may know places in Texas that
are inclusive in their hiring practices? Of the places I have applied to
(usually small law firms), I have either faced rejection outright after an
interview or not heard back at all. I want to make sure I have something
worthwhile and meaningful to put on my resume, and am therefore reaching
out for help. I have heard that working for civil rights organizations,
nonprofit organizations, and law firms look appealing on resumes, but have
unfortunately not been able to gain employment at these places as they have
lost their funding. Please advise as you see fit.
IN addition, I have been preparing for the LSAT and have devoted my full
attention to this test while I continue to apply for jobs. Having taken a
Kaplan course (online, as the in-person courses were not available in my
area), I have achieved a 10-point increase in my score. I went from a 147
to a 156, but want to go to a 170+ so that I may have a shot at a T-14. Do
you all have any recommendations as to how to get my score up beyond the
high 150s, especially if it feels like the limit?
Lastly, I had a friend who is also interested in joining the mailing list
for NABL. How can I get her connected?
Many thanks once again, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Adhyayan Singh
