Hello,
Recently we sent out a “Save the Date” for the Mathlete Competition hosted
by Project INSPIRE. In retrospect we should have provided the link to our
website and indicated the event is virtual. Please see the REVISED “Save
the Date” with this information added.
We have had several emails from people in different states asking about
hosting their own Mathlete Competition. We are delighted with the interest
and thought it would be good to provide information to anyone who is
interested.
There is no national competition other than the virtual event we will host
on May 2. Unlike the Braille Challenge or Abacus Bee there is not a “second
level” where winners from different events come together for a final
competition. In the future we would love to see this occur!
*What You Will Need to Do to Host a Mathlete Competition:*
- Register your mathletes
- Conduct the competition in-person or virtually
- Emboss contest files
- Distribute files if doing the event virtually
- Score all contest papers with an answer key we will provide
- Create certificates, provide t-shirts, provide medals, or provide
other prizes to your mathletes as your budget allows
Though we do not have funds to assist states in hosting their own
competition, we can provide non-financial support that includes:
- Meeting with you and your team to walk you through the Mathlete
Competition
- Providing you files of the 2026 competition so that you can emboss
them for your event. We can provide the practice files to you in February
and the contest files by March 23. You do not have to offer a practice
contest, this is optional.
- Giving you information on where we have ordered our medals from.
- Giving you a template for the certificates.
- Sharing information about scoring mathletes’ contest papers.
- Providing our logo so you can use it on materials and t-shirts if you
opt to provide your mathletes t-shirts.
- Answering questions along the way.
If you have questions about the national virtual competition we will hold
or are interested in hosting an event, please email Penny at
rosenblu at arizona.edu.
Thanks,
Penny, Tina, Susan, and Sara
