I know you all are thinking What does this have to do with blindness? But
it has to do with voting rights and knowing who we are voting for, who may
be our allies to help us with our issues in Vancouver and Clark County. So
if you're able to go to one of the sessions, I would.
Knowledge is power.

The League of Women Voters of Clark County announced Monday it will hold
three candidate forums, each covering a different group of races, ahead of
the Aug. 4 primary election.
The forums will feature candidates for the state House of Representatives,
Clark Public Utilities board of commissioners, and Clark County’s auditor,
clerk and council races. The public is invited to attend the forums in the
Columbia Room at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., or watch them
on the CVTV government cable access Channels 23 (323HD) or 21(321HD) or at
cvtv.org.
The first candidate forum will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 2. Individuals
invited to participate include Clark County Council District 1 candidates
Dusti Arab, Lukas Bardue, Bryan Shull and incumbent Glen Yung; Clark County
Council District 2 candidates Martin Pittioni, John Zingale and incumbent
Michelle Belkot; and Clark Public Utilities Commissioner District 3
candidates Gordon Matthews, Kevin Roegner and Jane Van Dyke.
The second candidate forum will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. July 3. Individuals
invited to participate include Legislative District 17, State
Representative, Position 1 candidates Thomas Everett Haynes, Ben Christly
and incumbent Kevin Waters and Legislative District 49, State
Representative, Position 1 candidates Kim Harless, Sarah Mittelman and Mike
Pond.
The last of the three forums will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 12. Individuals
invited to participate include Clark County Auditor candidates Mitchell
Kelly, Eileen Quiring O’Brien, Sharon Wylie and Ty Stober and Clark County
Clerk candidates Rachel Shapiro, Gerald Gray and incumbent Scott Weber.
