Lisa your story just proves that this is not a local issue and is very widespread. Can I have permission to share some of these with my group? I just spoke to the head of the organization and he wants to integrate people of all disabilities into the organization not just fight for the same issues we are all concerned about. Check out the Gamelia foundation or the disability caucus of Lansing Michigan to see what is being started.
