[humanser] Social work jobs

Hi,

I looked for work for 3 1/2 years post grad school. Though many of my fellow graduates found work, I was told the same thing about "not enough experience." I think that is their excuse when they don't want to come out and say you did not get the job because of blindness. I did find work eventually. I worked as a customer service rep for 1 1/2 years. I've been in my current job as a case manager for blind senior adults for over 14 years now.

Shannon Cook, MSW, CPM
Counselor, Older Blind Program

I have enough vision to read a book up close. It is definately fruatrating not finding work. I have had a few interviews but not a lot of them call back when I call. Then they say the position has been filled. I will look into federal government jobs and the VA. I have been applying for jobs at hospitals and mental health agencies. Even case management jobs. People are concerned I don't have enough experience.
