Charles led us in the NFB pledge.

Ronza talked about the NFB National Convention and about the code of
conduct.

Tonight’s guest speakers are Latonya Phipps, Dezman Jackson, and Millie Rivera.
They spoke about 3 different sections in the code of conduct which are
Diversity, Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment, and section 8. They also
spoke about how they found the NFB and why they stayed. Latonya and Millie
were NFB scholarship winners and Dezman learned about the NFB through the
internet and fell in love with their philosophy. Millie stated that she has
become a confident competent blind woman with the help of the NFB and that
is why she stayed. Dezman stated that the philosophy and being able to help
and give back to other blind individuals is why he continues to be part of
the NFB.

Respectfully Submitted by Danielle Earl, Secretary

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise
the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
