Kelby,
Everyone has forgotten one big thing that will help you
out so much. Going to your local NFB chapter meetings. You
can meet people from your area and ask some of these
questions there. It is likely that there would be many
people, including students who could help you out. If the
school you are going to is away from home, go to the NFB
meetings near where you will be living.

What you say makes complete sense, and it's also similar
to what
my mobility instructor has already told me I will likely
need to
do in an unfamiliar environment. He's not against using a
mobility instructor, but I'm sure he wouldn't be against
me
learning an environment on my own. But I feel I have the
skill-set necessary, because of the training I have
already
received. This does not mean I am at my full potential,
because
in some cases I have not had the chance to practice these
skills.
It may turn out that a training center would be necessary
for me.
But in the long-term view of my life, I would rather
obtain a
college degree and then attend a center if necessary.
College
will give me a chance to test myself and to evaluate my
own
strengths and weaknesses, and to become more cognisant of
where I
am in my journey.
