I have noticed that my dog either walks extremely quickly or very
slowly. He walks quicly in newer environments and places he enjoys
while he walks slowly in familiar situations. I generally talk to my
dog a fair amount. It seems to keep him focused, particularly when he
is considering sniffing or scavenging.
