[Nfb-kzoo] Brainstorm

OK, I will warn you in advance, that the following is going to be sort
of like a stream of consciousness, but here are my thoughts.
I think that it is less important to openly promote the organization
than it is to change our image. We should be welcoming, friendly, thank
them for coming. We could say things like
This is not your parents' NFB. We are redefined for the 21st century.
This is the lead-in to talking about free white canes and scholarships.
Our scholarship program is really over the top and so that will do much
to sell us.
Let me write to National and ask if we have anything at all that we can
give away...you know, like pens or Braille magnets or something like
that. I think that those things would be better than brochures, because
brochures are in print and lots of folks will not be able to read
them...that is just frustrating.

J.J. will have his KNFB reader there I am sure, and I will have mine.
That is some great stuff too. We could demo it for anyone who is
interested. People have probably not had the chance to see the Reader
yet.

Those are my thoughts.

Christine

Hey guys,
I'm thinking that we should figure out...now that things are falling
into place for the social event (more details on that later), how
exactly we are going to promote the NFB. My first thought was to hand
out a brochure with each plate. I also wonder if their would be a way
to promote the "Free White Cane" deal with the NFB to the teams. I just
want to make sure we put on a good impression, I've already heard about
hesitation because of the stigma that goes along with the acronime NFB,
so it is important that we begin to change that.

Let me know your thoughts,
Tyler

  Doug,
See Leanne's message below. Do you want a red sweatshirt or a black
one? It will be to wear during the tournament on the 28th.
You can reply to Leanne only.

  Hi Christine,
Shall we get black for your hubby as well?
