Kathleen Byrd Obituary
Kathleen Byrd Kathleen (Katie) Byrd (nee Hall) passed away on March 21, 2026, in Albuquerque after valiantly fighting dementia and arthritis. Born January 20, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to Richard and Doris Hall, she grew up in Orlando, Florida, attended University of Kentucky, and earned her B.A. from Barat College in Illinois. In 1970, she married her first husband, John Fuller. After they divorced, she married John Byrd in 1986 and they lived in Ohio, Florida, and Saudi Arabia before settling in Albuquerque. Widowed in 2007, she served as Treasurer of the National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico and also volunteered for that organization and her church. Other jobs included being a realtor and tutoring students in English in Saudi Arabia. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, intelligence, her faith in God, and her love for family, friends, church, and community. She loved living in New Mexico and being a part of the Albuquerque community. Her other loves were traveling and her dogs. Preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Byrd. Survived by her sister, Janet Anne Collins (Ed); her mother's cousins, Art Schreiber and Bob Wirth and their families; sister-in-law, Helen Hall; Hall cousins: Steve, Jeff, Bob, and Rick and their families; step-daughters: Cathi Archuleta (Ken) and Heidi Chambers (Jay) and their families. Inurnment will be at Santa Fe National Military Cemetery. Donations may be made to National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico or to a charity of your choice . A Celebration of Life will be held April 17, 2026, 2-4pm, at La Vida Llena Health Care Activities Room. To plant trees in memory, please visit the' Sympathy Store .
