đ URGENT: Sun Van Passengers Are Left Stranded!
Albuquerqueâs Sun Van service is a lifeline for independence, but right now, it is failing our community. Over the last five weeks, software glitches in the new ABQRideGo app have randomly not honored confirmed trips and "marooned" passengersâleaving them with no way to get home. Additionally, the software does not allow for apartment or unit numbers in the address field, which may lead to passengers being unnecessarily no showed by drivers.
This isn't just a technical "hiccupâ it is a violation of the ADA and a denial of equal access. đ
We need the city to act NOW. Software should support our community, not strand us.
đŁ TAKE ACTION:
Please contact your city leaders today. Demand that they work with RideCo for an immediate software fix and provide emergency ride vouchers for those left stranded.
1. City Council
Find your counselor and call or email them. Let them know Sun Van needs emergency attention.
* Phone: 505-768-3100
* Find Your District: cabq.gov/council<https://www.cabq.gov/council/find-your-councilor>
2. City ADA Coordinator
Report these service denials directly to the office responsible for disability access.
* Phone: 505-768-3766
* Email: ADAcoordinator at cabq.gov<mailto:ADAcoordinator at cabq.gov>
3. Mayorâs Office of Equity & Inclusion
Demand that the city prioritizes inclusive and reliable transit for all residents.
* Phone: 505-768-3491
* Email: oei at cabq.gov<mailto:oei at cabq.gov>
Standard text for your message:
"I am contacting you to express my deep concern regarding the Sun Van paratransit service. Software errors are causing 'missed trips' and leaving passengers stranded at their destinations. This is a violation of federal ADA regulations. I am asking for an immediate software solution to the ABQRideGo app and an emergency voucher program for affected passengers. Transit should also host a public forum to discuss the proposed solutions and the timeline for implementation."
