[NFB-Science] Advice for an Aspiring Science Teacher

I am Louis Maher, secretary of the NFB Science and Engineering division.  

Every Year, around the end of February, the Science and Engineering division, and the National Association of Blind Students, hold a phone/Zoom  seminar in how blind individuals handle classes and careers in science.  I have attached the minutes for the last three years of these seminars.  This ear, the seminar will be held at 9 PM EST on Sunday February 28, 2021.  The announcement will be on the Science and Engineering e-mail list in February.

Also, Newton Nguyen (newton at caltech.edu) and Gene Kim (gene.sh.kim at gmail.com) have started a mentor-mentee program in the Science and Engineering division.  This group meets on the second Saturday of each month at 1 PM PST to discuss science topics.  You should write to Newton and he will put you on the announcement e-mail list. I am currently a senior in high school with the hopes of becoming an Environmental Science teacher. After going blind last year I wasn't really sure what my opportunities in the field of science would be. I would appreciate any insights/advice on taking science classes at the collegiate level and completing the lab portions successfully.
