The number Ken was talking about, is our local weather line.  Its provider just happened to be Verizon.  It does not mean you had to be a verizon user to use the service.  I find it to be a convenience not an ergent need and it has very little to do with my blindness.  I many times miss the weather report and can not read a print thermometer so I just pick up the phone and dile the weather.  I hope another company will take over the local number, but thanks for the 800 number for a back up.

I'm not sure why it is that the blind need them.
If you have access to a good time device, such as a watch, then you've got the time thing covered.
The weather...listen to the radio or watch the news or call your local weather line.
These services are convenient but not necessary, and blindness has absolutely nothing to do with needing them.
