[nfb-talk] Audible.com to exclude Victor Reader Stream

thanks, dave.
I was going to say this is becoming too much drama myself.
I was frontline on supporting NFB' protest on amazons headquarters, because their actions with kindle were and are unacceptable, but there are changes being made to improve this, and we are here in washington seminar to keep that change going.
now, when you sit down and twist something around like what some people in this tread do guess what happens? we're set back tremendously because we speak without being aware of situations fully.
we can not afford this kind of action, and we must argue in the most reasonable manner possible, for instance: one could try and convince amazon to add certain categories of players which include the one used by Uus, instead of singling out the issue, and making the argument invalid, as this approach only leads to us not being heard when we do bring up a consistent argument.

sincerely

The corporation can't and most of the employees are unaware. You say they don't listen -- really what you mean is that they are not doing what you want, in the way you want. I think they have heard us -- they just have a different set of priorities.

It seems to me that when you try to talk to someone and they just won't listen to you, well, what would you come to think after a while?

Even in the instance of the kindle, I don't think amazon is excluding blind people because they hate us, I think they have made a business decision which they erroneously feel is in their best interest to not in their view waste extra resources on providing accessibility. It is our job to show them that legally and otherwise they are mistaken.

Nevertheless, it does seem to me that, with Amazon not being willing to listen to the NFB when we ask for accessibility to the dKendal and better access to other stuff from Amazon, well, seems to me they are looking for a fight. Yes, audible.com and Amazon are linked so far as password access may be concerned, but, it's my belief that Audible still retains independent control over that which was once theirs. I think that, until we receive hard evidence that Amazon is telling Audible not to be at all blind friendly, we ought perhaps to assume that they will. Fair enough?

They have a policy of only supporting Apple iOS and Android apps, and have stopped supporting other new devices including many MP3 players that sighted persons use. Further, it would appear that since they now support the Stream -- that they will support the new Stream.
