There are several disabled Americans (at one myself included) who would 
settle for receiving government benefits like SSI rather than gaining 
employment.  Some of these programs promote reliance on the government and 
discourage independence and self-reliance.  And we wonder why the 
unemployment rate among the blind doesn't decrease?  This is obviously not 
the government's role.
