Dear Federation Family,
The East Valley chapter would like to invite you to our annualChristmas party.
This holiday celebration will be held at the home of RuthSwenson and Jim Sohl, located at 311 W McNair St. in Chandler 85225-7135. 

Pleasejoin us, starting at 3pm on December 16th 2017. You are welcome tostay as long as you would like.
This is a pot luck dinner. We will need your help.  
Potluck Menu
-Turkey: East Valley Chapter-Ham: East Valley Chapter-Pulled Pork: East Valley Chapter/ Jim Sohl-Soda and Water: East Valley Chapter-Gravy: Megan Homrighausen We will need:
-Salads-Fruit-Cold Veggies-Appetizers-Chips-Mashed Potatoes (enough for at least 40 people)-Steamed or warm vegetables-Casseroles-Side Dishes-Rolls-Cranberries-Turkey Dressing
-Desserts

The East Valley would like to put a twist on our traditionalgift exchange. 

This year, we will be doing a gift raffle.
Here’s how this will work.
If you would like to participate in the gift raffle, bring agift. If you are a girl, bring a girl gift. If you are a boy, bring a boy gift.You may also bring a unisex gift if that works better for you. 
When arriving at the party, you will receive a number. DON’TLOSE YOUR NUMBER. Once the game is started, you will get a gift that will havea corresponding label with your number. Numbers will be said in order. Whenyour number is called, you will open the gift that corresponds with yournumber.
If you would like to trade your gift, you will have the option to do so with someone at any time.
 Gift Parameters
-Gifts should be at a value of at least $10 or more.
Santa is coming!!!!
Santa would like to make his yearly appearance at our EastValley Christmas party. He is expected to arrive between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.
Parents, if you are bringing your children, we would like toask that you bring a wrapped present for each child to open during Santa’svisit. Santa will hand out the presents.
The student division will be auctioning off a Holiday Basket.All auction proceeds will go to the students for their activities and blindnessadvocacy efforts.
As you can see, we have a lot of fun entertainment plannedfor you.

1. Itis respectable to be blind. It’s okay to be blind. Being blind issomething that we need not feel troubled or embarrassed about, concerned aboutor emotionally exhausted over. It’s okay to be blind.
2. The real problem of blindness is not the absence of vision but isthe social misconceptions and stereotypes that exist about blindness. It is not the physical absence of eye sight but it is what society has come tobelieve about our blindness. We reject the misconceptions that society has andwe accept that the physical absence of our sight is not the big problem.
3. With proper training and opportunity the average blind person cando the average job in the average place of work.
4. Blindnessis simply one of many human characteristics, like being tall or being short,being big or small, being bright or average. Blindness is simply one of many
characteristics.
5. Blindnesscan be reduced to the level of an inconvenience or physical nuisance. 
6. Webelieve in the effectiveness of alternative non visual techniques.
7. Ifwe want equal rights we need to accept equal responsibility.
