[nfbcs] I put a disk in the 3 and a half floppy drive. What does windows unknown disk format mean?There is a file in microsoft word on the disk.

There are a couple possibilities. If the disk was previously formatted
as something other than a PC format disk (or in other words, it carries
a file system other than FAT) you could get this error. Since you say
there is a word document on it, i'm assuming that you mean it was a word
document created on a PC then saved to that disk. In that case, it's
probably a problem with the disk itself, or with the disk/disk drive
combination you're using. This will happen frequently with floppy disks,
especially older ones.

There are a couple solutions you can try.

1. If you have another floppy drive, try the disk in it.

2. Try running chkdsk on the disk.

3. If all else fails, linux tools can usually access the data where
Windows can't. If you happen to be a Linux user, or if you know someone
who is, one of us can usually recover the data from the disk even if
Windows won't read it.
