[nfbcs] Trouble with IE8

Thanks to all for the advice.
I have:  done system maintenance, including disk cleanup and defrag, and 
deleting temp files of all sorts.
Reinstalled IE8.
Put in the latest Jaws update--actually, IE started hanging up when I tried 
to install the latest update last week and it failed, but this time it went 
in OK.
None of these things has fixed my problem.  A site will hang one time, and 
be fine a minute later, after I've gone to another window, or closed the 
hanging site.  Narrator is becoming my close friend, since Jaws hangs when 
IE hangs, and I begin to wonder if that is significant.  Maybe Ian is right, 
and Jaws 14, or the latest version thereof, doesn't play well with XP Pro. 
I'll have to call FS, who will probably tell me that no one else is having 
this problem.
Is there a system attention key for the PC, like there is for the mainframe? 
Something that says knock off everything you're doing, right now?  Escape 
and alt-F4 only work eventually, when they get around to it. Or is it called 
the power button on the PC? <grin>
What is a cable terminator, which Jude mentioned?
I don't think the problem is with my internet provider--at least, I'm not 
having the problem with my netbook, which runs NVDA.
