[nfbcs] Interesting thing happening with Outlook and Gmail

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about whether something's going on
with setting up Outlook and Gmail these days. Here's why I ask.

And, just so everyone knows, I've set up several of these Gmail accounts
with Outlook for students in the past. In fact, I recently set one up for
myself on a tablet that runs Outlook 2013, and it seemed to work.

In the past week, a student got a new computer with Windows 7 and MS Office
2013. We tried going through the steps to set his account up, and Outlook
wasn't taking it. While it was trying to set up, it came up with another
window or popup area asking me to enter in the password. Whatever we tried
doing was not working, and this is something that is generally done
automatically so that folks can use IMap.

A couple of days later, another student came to me and let me know that he'd
installed Outlook 2013 on his computer and was trying to set up his Gmail
account. It didn't take his either.similar to my other student.

Today, my first student said that this past weekend, he and his sister tried
again to see if his Gmail account would work with Outlook, and they got the
same results.

We made sure the simple things, like correct email addresses and passwords
were being typed into the correct fields.

I tried getting on Google to see if there were any new changes that needed
to be made, but I found nothing.

Does anyone know what could be going on? This should not be happening with
Outlook and Gmail. Generally, my setups are flawless.

The only thing I've not tried doing is a pop3 setup, because both my
students want to use IMap for using their Gmail on multiple devices.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Jim
