[nfbcs] What's running?

A shortcut to the task manager is ctrl-shift-Escape. The status line shows how many processes are running and what percentage of CPU time is being used at the moment. Actually, you should press F5 a couple of times to get an accurate reading on CPU usage. In the tab that displays processes, there is a checkbox which determines whether you see only processes running under your user account or all processes.

Why can't you install Norton? You can change what is displayed in the System Tray under Start Menu and Taskbar. I do not know where to find those settings on Windows 7 right now. Also, to see all processes running on your computer, press ALT, CTRL, delete. Use the arrow keys to select start task manager. Press CTRL tab until you get to the processes page. If you are 105% sure that a process is what you think it is, you can press ALT E to end the process. Windows will ask you if you are sure that you want to end the process. I often have to use the task manager to terminate processes because Outlook does not close directly and continues running in the background with no way to reopen the running instance.

Is there an accessible way to see what's running on my PC? I hear the disc spinning, and it's slow, but I go to the 2 lists, Jaws insert-F10 & insert-F11, and I don't see much running.

I am using Windows 7 and Jaws 15.

I suspect Norton, which I don't want but can't uninstall, but I don't see the darned thing running, either.

TIA.

Tracy
