[nfbcs] Navigating to "Safely Remove Hardware" with NVDA?

Brian,

Press the Windows key together with the letter b to bring up the system
tray. From this point, there are a couple of ways to proceed. You can try
pressing the letter s until you hear "Safely Remove Hardware' and press
space or enter. Then use the arrow keys to find the device that needs to be
safely removed and press ENTER. If the letter "S" does not find Safely
Remove Hardware, it probably means it is not visible. If that is the case,
leave the system tray by pressing ALT-TAB and bring it up again with Windows
Key and B. Then press enter or space which should expand the system tray
and look for it again. I find that pressing Windows Key and B and then the
letter s usually works for me.

Please note that some USB drives appear with duplicate names with one entry
disabled. Sometimes USB drives have a disabled entry for the drive letter
it occupies but then a generic name. Press ENTER on the generic name.

Also note that NVDA can use the Microsoft Mobile voices. However, the top
speed available to NVDA is governed by the speed set in the control panel
for the microsoft voices. Increasing the speed there will increase the
highest possible speed in NVDA. This does not seem to be the case with
JAWS, though, so it must have something to do with how NVDA gets the voice
rate.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Subject: [nfbcs] Navigating to "Safely Remove Hardware" with NVDA?

hello folks. I've recently started learning NVDA under Windows 10
and
I've been reasonably satisfied with its performance and stability. I've
also tried to absorb the user's manual, and to understand its basic
functions.
One thing I've been having trouble doing is figuring out how to
navigate to the "Safely remove hardware" button. I think this is in the
System Tray, but I'm not sure. Can anyone provide a description of how to
get to this button using NVDA?
-thanks
-Brian
