[nfbcs] Band Steering

Can anyone tell me how to turn off band steering on my Verizon router? 
HumanWare tech support explained that the Trek only runs on the 2.4 GHZ 
band. I was told to give the 2.4 GHz and 5 Gig a different name. I 
connected to the 2.4 gig network and tried to download the update with no 
success. I was also told to turn band steering off, but am not sure how to 
find the setting in my router. Any help is appreciated.
