[NFBCS] Captioning a Zoom meeting

Hi Jim.
How does that work? Many years ago, I did some captioning of meetings for a
deaf-blind member. He had a device where I sat on one side and brailled as
fast as I could, and he sat on the other side and read what I wrote. But
how does it work when the captioner and the reader are far apart? Also,
because I wasn't fast enough to write every word, I hit the high points.
But I expect that wouldn't be really acceptable now, either.
Do you know how the whole thing works these days?
Tracy

Hey Tracy,

The short answer is hiring a captioner. There is some automated captioning,
but most deaf-blind folks I've spoken with don't find this solution to be
workable for them.

Hope that gets you started,

Jim

P.S. FYI, there is an NFB zoom moderators list that you can join, that might
have more resources to answer this question. Send Dave Andrews a request to
join.
