[NFBCS] switching to the new Outlook

I don’t disagree with anything Curtis said, but I think it depends on how you use email. I would never switch to the New Outlook at the office, but I use it just fine at home, and prefer it over the Classic Outlook in some ways. I like the way it handles conversations better than Classic Outlook does. I don’t need the PST support at home. I find adding calendars, such as for sports teams, is easier in the New Outlook. My own $0.02 is that if you’re a casual user of email then the New Outlook is fine.

There’s also no reason to jump to the New Outlook either. I know some people say that because the Classic Outlook is going away  that you should learn the New Outlook, but IMHO, you’re going to have to learn the New Outlook at some time, so you can do this later and don’t have to do it now.

In full disclosure, I haven’t used Outlook at home in Weeks. I got a MacBook Neo a month ago, and now I use it, and the IOS Mail app, exclusively for my email.

The New Outlook feels very much like a program that is still under development. Since it is, in effect, a web-based application, you have to be concerned about when you should use the JAWS Virtual Cursor and when it is better to turn it off. Also, some features that we have grown accustomed to in the Classic Outlook do not exist in the New Outlook. Consider, for example, the handling of attachments. In the Classic Outlook, you can use the standard copy and paste functions to copy attachments between an email message and File Explorer. This feature is only partially available under the new Outlook.

In the New Outlook, there are too many situations where (from a nonvisual user’s perspective) JAWS seems to get stuck on a single line of text with no clear indication as to how one can move off of that line.

Regarding meeting invitations, if a Classic Outlook person sends you a meeting invitation, there are times when it is either difficult or impossible to find any Accept button.

Kudos to the fine folks at Vispero for putting on a number of webinars to help with basic use of the New Outlook, but if you listen to any of these, you will notice right away that even the experts have trouble focusing on specific items without having to tab lots of times around the screen.

I trust I have clarified my opinion on this matter😉.
