El Estudio de Washington es un acontecimiento anual de la Federación 
Nacional de Ciegos para introducir la agenda de los Americanos ciegos, y la 
prioridad pública que requiere la atención del congreso durante el año que 
viene. Los asuntos se seleccionan de las posiciones oficiales de la 
Federación y pueden tratar de las preocupaciones en las áreas siguientes: El 
Seguro Social, y Programas suplementales de Ingreso del Seguro; asuntos 
pertinentes de los derechos civiles; programas educativos y servicios; la 
rehabilitación de los ciegos para el empleo competitivo; la operación de las 
instalaciones de la venta por las personas ciegas en la propiedad pública; 
servicios de biblioteca especializados para los ciegos; la organización, y 
la financiación de programas federales; y otros asuntos oportunos. 
Aproximadamente tres iniciativas legislativas se eligen de prioridad para la 
atención, durante el estudio de Washington.
