[Nfbf-l] Simply amazing!

Dear Jo Ann and Paul,

Maybe you should go back and watch and listen to the event as it took place
and you would see that the test included dodging obstacles that included
barrels, cones and a moving van that tossed boxes out of the back, in his
path, and which he then overtook and passed after dodging the boxes.
As for spending the money on Mass Transit. I can tell you that it would not
make a dent in most local budgets. I know, I sit on several Transit boards
and work for a Transit company.
The spin offs are the things we are after and what will benefit the Blind
the most in the long run. It also changed some perceptions of the Blind and
will cause people to think about us a little differently because a Blind guy
did something that most sighted people take for granted that we can not do,
namely drive a car.
It just feels to me that you are just NFB bashing and not judging the event
for what it is, a historical event in the time line of the Blind.
I was there and it was more than just amazing, it was wonderful and fired
the imagination. I over heard some of the comments that sighted people were
making in the paddock areas, including a couple of pro drivers and they were
very positive and they were impressed.
About 400 Blind people came to be a part of the event and many of them were
students. They got the point, the feeling of empowerment and can't wait for
the chance to drive themselves.
