[Nfbf-l] Fw: [nagdu] You know you're at an NFB convention when:

I actually did attend a national convention in Kansas City one year when
some of us commented on how poor the brailling was on the elevators and on a
couple of occasions, I remember standing in line outside restaurants and the
wait staff actually coming around with free lemonade while we waited to be
seated. As for the other thing, well, it happened in New Orleans when both
my sighted girlfriend and I stepped in it at the top of an escalator. I
would imagine that can be very stressful for some of the dog guides, I mean
crowds of people milling around, a totally different environment, a
different schedule, all of that.

Also, you know you are at an NFB convention when you step in dog fecal
matter at the top of an escalator in the hotel, also, when we are all
commenting on the quality of the Braille room numbers and elevator numbers,
and finally, you know you are at an NFB convention when the line for dinner
outside the hotel restaurants is so long the wait staff is serving you free
lemonade while you die of heat prostration standing in line. LOL.

thought I would change this subject to the new thread.
Lol!
You know you're at an NFB convention when:

people are pushing in to the elevator even if its full.
You know you're at an NFB convention when: the gropers are out in force and
using their blindness as an excuse.
You know you're at an NFB convention when: when you hear this way being
yelled days after convention is over.
Finally, You know you're at an NFB convention when: you don't have much of a
voice left.

Buddy,

Ahahahahaha! So right I knew there was something I wanted to add to
Dar's message! It's unforgettable the mad rush to elevators. I learned
to hang back a few minutes. I've been to national once with a cane and
once with my guide. At that first, someone actuallly lost there cane
down the elevator shaft because of this. When I went with my dog
guide, I remember having to remind folks trying to sandwich me in
while waiting for said elevators that I have a dog with me. He handled
it all well like we were working in New York! Only thing is he
wouldn't park with the other pups so I had to find a quiet off-limits
area. Has anyone else notived this with there dogs?

trying to catch an elevator right after general sessions or the
banquet, a sight to behold and an experience to be had!

How about we start a thread: You know you're at an NFB convention when:

Danielle and eden, who are glad to be back after a long absence
