The Office of the State Courts Administrator is  seeking qualified 
applicants who possess leadership skills and abilities  to assume the 
responsibilities of Director of Community and  Intergovernmental 
Relations.  The Director of Community and  Intergovernmental Relations 
is an executive-level management position that  provides 
professional-level support to the State Courts System's  legislative 
and community outreach programs.

The Director works  closely with the State Courts Administrator and a 
Deputy State Courts  Administrator to develop policy guidelines and 
communication strategies to  advance the Chief Justice's and State 
Courts System's intergovernmental  relations; provide strategic 
communication support to court programs,  activities, and initiatives; 
provide professional communication counsel to  judicial leadership, 
court committees, and court staff; broadly coordinate  all related 
activities in the trial and appellate courts; and manage the  human 
and fiscal resources of the Office of Community and  Intergovernmental 
Relations, a unit within the Office of the State Courts  
Administrator. 

The Director serves as a court system's liaison to  the legislative 
and executive branches of government; responds to requests  for 
information from the legislative and executive branches; prepares  
analyses of issues and proposals that have an impact on the court  
system; and coordinates with the other branches of government on  
activities designed to promote effective intergovernmental relations.  

The Director of Community and Intergovernmental Relations has  
extensive interaction with judges at all levels of the court system 
as  well as elected officials and staff in the executive and 
legislative  branches who are involved in the justice system.  The 
Director has  considerable interaction with appellate court clerks and 
marshals, trial  court administrators, and administrative staff within 
the judicial  branch.  The Director also conducts outreach to the 
business  community, statewide associations, and other organizations 
with an  interest in ensuring that Florida's state court system has 
the ability to  operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Education and  Training Guidelines:
Additional relevant experience may substitute for the  recommended 
educational level on a year-for-year basis and additional  relevant 
education may substitute for the recommended experience on a  
year-for-year basis. 

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism,  law, public or business 
administration, or a closely related field and  five years of related 
experience, including working knowledge of the  Florida State Court 
System, the executive and legislative branches of  government, and an 
understanding of the processes within all three  branches of Florida 
government, and one year of supervisory experience.
