We had a great convention, tried new things, have new faces on the state board, and new leaders in the local chapters. We have many people capable of leading and participating actively in the affiliate.

I was not feeling well Friday night, but we had a great social in hospitality suite with warm Daytona welcome.
We had great guest speakers including Dennis Baxley and new DBS director. The students did a seminar on what is in your crock pot and a tasting later on Saturday.
Being that it was Martin Luther King weekend, the Minority Concerns committee did a great seminar with guest panel on our civil rights and ceremony Monday. Being that legislation is my interest, exercising our power to get rights we deserve is definitely what I am for. We have people we need to reach, help, bring into affiliate, and make the affiliate strong. The deaf/blind committee became a division and held a meeting at convention. We had very informative guests and the board was introduced. Since I have been a caregiver most of my adult life to a mostly deaf/diabetic/blind husband until he passed and legally blind/hearing impaired grandma that passed recently, my heart is invested in these issues.
Dwight did a wonderful job as auctioneer, nominating committee chair, and other duties as first Vice President.

Anil Lewis, national rep, was positive, humorous, and gave a great banquet speech.

I am grateful for all that Daytona did to host and warmly welcome all, and many others that contributed to make this convention a success.

Sincerely, Denise Valkema by iPhone

We are however, very pleased to see the new board with new faces fresh ready to take up a lot of the older Warriors battles! LOL! Peter and the rest congratulations on your elections and perhaps hopefully we will make it next year
