Hello fellow nfb list members,
My wife Ruth and I have been diligently seeking door prizes for this
year's state convention down in Orlando over the Memorial Day weekend,
and we have been very fortunate to have obtained about 20 so far. We
are expecting more to come in soon.
Here's a few tips on how we have done so well:
1. When going to a restaurant or other place of business, always look
presentable and happy to meet with a GM or an assistant manager.
2. Take along both the Request Letter and the Tax Exempt letter
putting the Request letter on top and stapling them together. Put your
own contact info. on the bottom including your full name, mailing
address, phone number, and e-mail if you have one.
3. In some cases, they may ask you to be very specific as to what you
are asking for I..e. if they say what are you asking us to do for you,
as we experienced today, tell them that you are looking for a gift
card worth n exact amount, such as$25-this helps, trust us. Others
will just whatever they choose. We have gotten everything from $5-$50.
4. In many cases, you may need to contact a corporate office and this
takes time, so start early, there is only 3weeks left before
convention.
5. Many times, a company may mail you something to your home, so be
sure you list a current one.
6. Even if they don't give you anything, smile and thank them for at
least speaking to you and patronize them sometimes if they are in your
area.
We hope this helps, most of all, Good Luck. Just remember, the more
door prizes you get, the better chance I have of winning one of yours.
Ha Ha Ha. Maybe you will even win one ours.

Blessings, Jerry and Ruth Heichelbeck
